QuickBooks Enterprise to Premier Conversion Service

Overview

Converting a QuickBooks Enterprise file down to Premier or Pro is not a feature Intuit exposes in the product. Most tools that claim to do it rely on the QuickBooks SDK, which strips payroll, memorized reports, linked transactions, and custom templates in the process. NexFortis does not use the SDK. Our team performs a direct modification of the underlying company file so that every record, link, and preference survives the conversion.

We support Enterprise versions 6.0 through 24.0 and produce output files compatible with Premier or Pro 2017 through 2024. Canadian editions — including Premier Contractor, Premier Accountant, and the Canadian Payroll add-on — are fully supported. This is a key differentiator: the built-in Intuit utilities either fail outright on Canadian files or silently corrupt payroll data, and most third-party SDK-based tools simply refuse to run when they detect a Canadian file header.

Your file is uploaded over a 256-bit encrypted connection, processed in our Canadian data region, and returned to you as a downloadable .QBM file that restores into Premier or Pro exactly as it behaved in Enterprise. Standard turnaround is the next business day; a 30-minute guaranteed rush option is available if you are on a deadline. Files are deleted from our processing environment within 30 days, and you can request earlier deletion at any time by contacting support with your order number.

All Enterprise features that exist in Premier — advanced inventory summaries, class tracking, multi-currency, job costing, custom fields — are preserved. Enterprise-only features that Premier cannot display (such as Advanced Pricing rules, Combine Reports across companies, and Enhanced User Permissions on individual transactions) are converted to static values or removed where they have no Premier equivalent, and the conversion report tells you exactly which features were affected so there are no surprises after restoration.

Why do businesses convert down from Enterprise in the first place? The most common reason is cost: Enterprise's per-seat annual subscription is several times the Premier or Pro license. A close second is consolidation: a company that bought Enterprise for capacity reasons years ago has since reduced staff, written off legacy data, or no longer needs the higher list limits. We also see Enterprise-to-Premier conversions tied to acquisitions, where the acquiring entity standardizes everyone onto Premier, and tied to accountants who prefer to receive client files in a tier their own practice already supports.
